Leaving the village of Valdehuesa and following the stream of the same name, you begin a slight ascent along this narrow path in the direction of Peña Arbellosa. Leaving the secondary paths that appear on your route to the right, you will reach a young repopulated forest area.

We will continue along this forest trail towards the pass, where you will be able to contemplate the splendid view of the eastern mountains of León, with the characteristic background formed by the barren limestone rocks of these mountain massifs, surrounded at the base by green valleys full of deciduous trees and with the Porma Dam as a bluish tapestry, giving us a glimpse of the vastness and contrasts of the unique and protected natural environment of the Picos de Europa. Continuing the walk and arriving at the end of this forest track, a few metres further on you will come across what will be the steepest ramp of the whole trail, which runs along a narrow path that will lead you to the Collado de Las Praderonas. From this point you can see the grazing meadows of the narrow valley of Valdehuesa, sheltered by a limestone rock wall that protects them from the cold north winds coming from the Cantabrian Sea.

You will then begin the long descent along the forest trail through pine trees and pastures until you reach the road, which will take you back to Valdehuesa.

It is advisable to take warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, water and sunscreen.

The Wildlife Museum and the vertical climbing wall are just a few metres away.

Water is the driving force of all nature.
