The trail SL-LE 4, “Ruta Ermita San Pelayo”, close to the Regional Park Picos de Europa, starts from the secluded village of Oville. The main attraction of this trail, which is only 4 km long and of no difficulty at all, is the traditional use of the land, being visible, along the way, the meadows with their living enclosures, or sebes, ending at the hermitage of San Pelayo, dedicated to worship and recently restored by the villagers, as it is a heritage element of great value to them.

The trail Ermita San Pelayo starts in the village of Oville, located northwest of Boñar, and runs through the beautiful valley at the source of the Oville stream. The start is marked by an information panel at the beginning of the trail. It runs along a track throughout the entire trail. The first junction can be found 80 metres from the beginning of the trail.

We must ignore the path on the left, which runs perpendicular to the route, and continue straight on along the track. This is the only intersection we will find until we reach the Ermita de San Pelayo hermitage.

The trail runs through plots of land still used in traditional ways, and on the left bank there is a small waterfall, meadows and beech trees and a hillside full of cherry trees, together with the San Pelayo Hermitage. These are the main attractions of a simple yet very pleasant trail.

The trail ends at the hermitage. At this point there is an information panel indicating the end of the trail, as well as information about the hermitage itself. Finally, we will return to the village following the same trail.

It is advisable to bring warm clothing, comfortable hiking shoes, water and food as well as sunscreen.

It is also advisable to take binoculars and a camera to see and record the existing great variety of landscapes and species of fauna and flora.
Other places of interest are a visit to the silica quarry, a walk through the valley of the cherry trees, a visit to the fountain and the Gorgorita mill.
